*Capacity in accordance with CAGI / ISO 1217 (Annex C / Annex E)
*Accepted by the California Energy Commission
Select the fixed-speed or variable-speed CAGI sheet that matches the compressor family, horsepower and operating pressure (PSI). Compare rated delivered airflow (CFM), input power and applicable efficiency measures at equivalent test conditions.
The CAGI learning hub explains specific power, why performance verification matters and how to use standardized ratings responsibly. CAGI membership, standardized data-sheet publication and independent verification are distinct; check the program seal on each eligible model.
Use these PDFs to support preliminary selection, then consider facility demand, controls, operating hours and air-treatment needs. Browse industrial electric compressor families.

Understand the performance numbers
Choosing an Industrial Compressor Using CAGI Data
Match Airflow & PSI
Compare rated CFM at equivalent discharge pressures and the applicable test procedure. Horsepower alone does not measure delivered air.
Evaluate Specific Power
Review input power per unit of delivered air under the same rating conditions. Where provided, use isentropic efficiency as a further comparison reference.
Consider Variable Demand
Use the appropriate fixed-speed or VFD sheet alongside actual plant loading, pressure targets, storage and control strategies.
CAGI data sheets are standardized performance references, not a substitute for a site assessment or proof that every listed model carries independent verification. CAGI's published rotary compressor verification program covers qualifying 5-200 HP units; larger models can have standardized data sheets without falling within that program scope. See the official CAGI program details.
Answers & guidance
Frequently Asked Questions
How should I compare two industrial rotary screw compressor CAGI sheets?
Compare the same or equivalent discharge pressure, capacity or delivered airflow, input power and the applicable test method. Then consider how the compressor will operate at your facility rather than ranking equipment by horsepower alone.
What does specific power mean on an industrial compressor data sheet?
Specific power describes the electrical input power required per unit of delivered airflow, typically kW per 100 cfm, at a defined pressure. A fair comparison requires comparable rating conditions.
Why are fixed-speed and variable-speed data sheets separated?
Fixed-speed and variable-frequency-drive compressors behave differently as air demand changes. The appropriate published sheet helps evaluate the stated rating, but a real demand profile is needed to estimate part-load energy performance.
Does a CAGI data sheet guarantee operating cost savings?
No. Standardized ratings can inform comparisons; actual cost depends on plant loading, pressure, operating hours, controls, leaks, maintenance and local electricity rates.
